What is Daryl doing in Alaska?

Back in 2005 I was invited up to Alaska to work as a counselor at Victory BIble Camps. It wasn’t really a calling from God, but I went anywhere. Little did I know God would open a door that would involve six summers and a year-and-a-half internship.
I started out as a counselor working with the youngest of our campers at Frontier camp. In 2006 I helped pioneer what is our Audio Visual department. I spend four summers working in that program, and another one directing it. All sorts of videos have come out of the department. Anything ranging from day recaps to summer promo, topical-spiritual to random nonsense, and even crazy characters that campers can’t stop talking about. But that wasn’t all that I have done within my normal job at Victory. For five summers I have been part of the worship/ministry team for the summer program. I even have written a few of the main teaching lessons for chapel. This last summer, I worked more behind the scenes with the summer leadership team. Anything from weekend events, to chapel and AV, even the kitchen at times, God had me a part of it. But through that, God revealed what He wants me to do at Victory on more of a full-time basis.
At the end of the summer, Victory approached me with the idea of me joining the ministry public relations team. It uses a lot of the gifts God has blessed me with, and stretches those gifts and talents even more. But that wouldn’t be all that I would be doing.
During the retreat season, I would be focusing on my job, but I would also be focusing of the many guest groups that use Victory’s property. Anything from dishes to snow removal, everyone lends a hand to the tasks at hand when groups are in.
